I must say that I am content, even if I'm in the library again. I'm listening to Billie Holiday and I feel that what I'm studying is conquerable. A mixture of excitement, fear, anticipation, and worry are all brewing in me about China, school, dance. Although, I should maybe be more worried about dance seeing as how I completely biffed it in rehearsals today (sidenote: do you think 'biffed' was created in honor of Biff from Back to the Future?). For some reason I am incredibly clumsy but am trained to be graceful, adaptable, and so on. But it isn't that falling isn't a normal occurrence for me in class/rehearsals . . . it's just that today was especially bad. We were brainstorming ideas with a set of tall steel stools and a table for a performance on Monday and I had without killing myself tried some stalls and other stunts I'm not used to performing with some ease. But when I was asked to play leap frog over the stools and to jump onto one and then off . . . I totally lost it . . . three times (a lady). It went a little like this: K-kick with stool - check; leap over stool #1 all smooth - check; leap over stool #2 in a cool fashion - check; quickly jump on top of stool with ease - check; stand in triumph on top of stool - check; jump off of stool in cool ninja style - . . . .; send the stool flying - check; land on left knee (instead of on feet) - check and mate. On the bright side I did learn a cool new little spinny thing on the floor.
